Please read the apartment and applying information below carefully. We have different instructions for applying depending on whether you are an exchange student of University of Jyväskylä or JAMK University of Applied Sciences. More details (photos, etc.) of the apartments can be found at the Furnished apartment for exchange student -section.

1. Apartment offer & advance payment

Soihtu will send the apartment offer via email. Read your apartment offer email carefully. The length of your tenancy agreement can be found from the apartment offer. Accept the offer in our online service (link for the service in the offer).

Please note that accepting the offer in the online service is not enough, but you also have to pay the first month’s rent as an advance payment to confirm the apartment. Instructions for the payment is sent with together with the offer. By paying the first rent, you will confirm your reservation and commit to the tenancy agreement. Notice, that the payment doesn’t arrive to Soihtu immediately – therefore make the payment early in advance.

2. Sign your tenancy agreement

After you have accepted the offer online and paid the 1st month’s rent and the payment has arrived to us, we will send you the tenancy agreement to sign. The email is sent via Visma Sign. Please sign the tenancy agreement within the requested time.

3. Make the arrangements for the arrival

Before your arrival, make a key box request, so you can pick up the keys from a key box, which is available 24/7. Make the key box request latest 3 (three) working days before the wished date via link we have sent you after your tenancy agreement has been signed.

Check also the information of the furnished apartments and what is included in the rent and the furniture fee. Notice, that you need to bring your own bed linen, towels etc.

Get familiar with the General Housing rules of Kortepohja Student Village – to make your stay as cozy as possible.

4. Pick up the key and move in

Notice, that you can get the keys to your apartment the earliest on the first working day of your tenancy agreement. This means, that if your tenancy agreement starts on a weekend or on a holiday, you can get the keys on the next working day. Check the opening hours on our website. Keys can be picked up from the key box (if the request has been made early enough) or from Soihtu Housing service point within opening hours.

5. Fill in an apartment card

When you move in, check the condition of your apartment and fill in the apartment card that is sent to your email address when your tenancy agreement begins. The apartment is sent within few days after the tenancy agreement begins.

If there is something urgent, that needs to be fixed in the apartment, kindly file a maintenance request.

6. Remember to pay your rent

The due date is always the 6th of each month. Every tenant is personally responsible for their rent payments. Within your rent you need to pay a furniture fee monthly. The liability to pay the rent begins on the same day as the term of your tenancy agreement begins according to the agreement – even if you picked up your keys later.
