Furnished apartment in Jyväskylä
A furnished room in a shared apartment is an easy option for an exchange student. This communal housing type is great opportunity for an exchange student who is moving to a new city since it is an easy way to get to know new people.
During academic year, the furnished apartments in Kortepohja Student Village are reserved for exchange students. Our Functional home apartments in buildings A and C are meant for degree students.
Kortepohja Student Village
Living in Kortepohja Student Village is easy because electricity, district heating and network connection are always included in the rent. In furnished rooms also water is included in the rent. In addition, it is free to use the laundry rooms and common sauna turns are available every day.
Rentukka building in the middle of the Student Village is praised by our tenants – many people choose our apartment because the gym and studying spaces in Rentukka are in free use of our tenants. The student-priced lunch is served also after lectures so if you aren’t interested in cooking at home, you can stop by Rentukka to eat!
The tenancy agreement is made for whole months, so the agreement begins on the first day of a month and ends on the last day of a month. The tenancy agreement can be valid for a fixed term (academic year or semester) in a furnished room / studio.
How to apply?
Some of Soihtu’s furnished shared apartments and studios are reserved for the exchange students of JYU during the academic year. If you are an exchange student of the University of Jyväskylä, you need to follow the instructions given by the University of Jyväskylä. University of Jyväskylä will deliver the accommodation applications of exchange students of to Soihtu at once.
Furnished shared apartments for the exchange students of JYU are in Kortepohja Student Village, in buildings M, Q, R and S. Furnished studios for exchange students of JYU are in building E in Kortepohja Student Village .
Each JYU exchange student that receives an offer from us, has an own room in a shared apartment or a studio apartment. An exchange student living in a shared apartment has their own, lockable room and the common spaces are shared with 1-3 roommates. Some exchange students of the University have their own studio (with a private bathroom and kitchenette).
Some Soihtu’s furnished apartments are reserved for the exchange students of JAMK University of Applied Sciences during the academic year. If you are an exchange student of JAMK University of Applied Sciences and JAMK has informed you to apply Soihtu’s furnished rooms, you will receive instructions via email. Please wait for those instructions.
Furnished shared apartments for the exchange students of JAMK are in the Kortepohja Student Village, in buildings M, N, R, S and Q.
Each exchange student of JAMK that receives an offer from us will have their own, lockable room and the common spaces are shared with 1 or 2 roommates.
Furnished studio in building E in the Student Village
Some studio apartments are available for the exchange students of the University of Jyväskylä. During summer months these apartments are available for short time rent.
Apartment size is 20 square meters and you have the whole apartment for yourself with a private bathroom and a kitchenette. In studio apartments the water is not included in the rent. Notice, that in the studio, you pay water advance 15 € / person / month.



Furnished rooms in buildings H and J in the Student Village
Furnished shared apartments in buildings H and J in the Student Village are for two people. You will have your own lockable room with balcony and shared kitchen and bathroom. In building J, there is a private toilet in each room.
Room sizes are 15-17 square meters.



Furnished rooms in building M in the Student Village
Furnished shared apartments in buildings M in the Student Village are for two people. Own, lockable bedroom and shared kitchenette and bathroom will be in your use as a tenant of buildings M.
Room size is about 12 square meters.



Furnished rooms in buildings Q, R and S in the Student Village
Furnished shared apartments in buildings Q, R and S in the Student Village accommodate 3-4 people. Own, lockable bedroom and shared kitchen and bathroom will be in your use as a tenant of buildings Q, R and S.
In building Q the room size is about 14 square meters. In buildings R and S, the rooms are 11-17 square meters.



Furniture and items in furnished apartments
In the room, there is a bed, mattress, blanket, and pillow, a writing desk, chair, and armchair. The apartment’s kitchenette or kitchen has a refrigerator, and you have access to dishes and cooking utensils. Towels or bed linens are not included in the furnishing.
As a tenant, you are responsible for cleaning your apartment and doing household chores. Basic cleaning items can be found in the furnished apartments.
All furnished apartments include WiFi access.
Furniture fee
In the furnished shared apartments of Kortepohja Student Village a furniture fee is charged monthly in connection with your rent.
The furniture fee is itemised in the rent invoice. The due date of the rent and furniture fee is always the 6th of each month. In order for your payments to be entered right, you must use your reference number when making the payments.
Tenant is required to maintain the apartment and its furniture carefully. Furniture fee needs to be paid because of using the equipment of the apartment/room.
