Rent increases in March – changes also in some usage fees

Verifying the budget of the housing locations of Soihtu for the year 2024, the representatives of the Student Union of the University of Jyväskylä and the board of Soihtu business unit have agreed on the rent charged in Student Village and Soihtu Vehkakuja from March 1st, 2024. The raise will be 1,5 – 3,0 % / month depending on the apartment building and apartment type. The raises have become necessary because of the increase of interest and loan management costs and the general increase of maintenance costs. The rent increases in all housing locations and apartment types.

Tenants will receive the information of the rent increase by email. The new rent of your room or apartment is stated in the rent increase letter. Please notice that the rent increase will come into effect in March 2024. In December, January and February, you will pay rent as previously. Remember to use the reference number when paying the rent. The reference number will not change after the rent increase.

Changes in usage fees

Also sauna fees, parking fees and door opening fees will be increased starting from 1st of March 2024.

Sauna and parking fees starting from March 2024 in all housing locations:

• Sauna fee 10 € / month
• Parking place without heating 10 € / month (only in the Student Village)
• Parking place with heating 12 € / month
• Parking place with shelter, no heating 14 € / month (only in the Student Village)
• Parking place with heating and shelter 22 € / month
• Parking place for electric car 32 € / month
• Door opening on evenings and weekends 60 €
