Bastu – Sauna

The Bastu sauna is located in the immediate vicinity of Rentukka, on the 9th floor of Building B.

This cozy and bright sauna offers gentle steam, and the lounge area is perfect for enjoying refreshments and spending time with friends while taking in beautiful views.

Bertta – For meetings and events

Bertta is a modern meeting and event space located on the 9th floor of Building B in the Student Village.

In this comfortable space, you can host meetings or small events. In addition to the main meeting room, there is a lounge area for more relaxed gatherings and a spacious furnished balcony with scenic views toward Laajavuori.

Lillukka – For leisure and events

Lillukka, located near Rentukka, is an easy choice for organizing sitsit dinners or birthday celebrations.

The space accommodates up to 48 people.

Club Room

Designed primarily for hobby clubs in Kortepohja, this room is suitable for all kinds of gatherings. A projector and screen make it ideal for game nights or movie evenings with friends, and it also works well for meetings. The room includes a coffee maker, kettle, microwave, refrigerator, and a small set of dishes.

Group Work Room

Soihtu residents can reserve this free group workspace when they need a place for meetings, group projects, or discussions. A chalkboard wall makes collaborative brainstorming easy. The room is also suitable for clubs meeting in Kortepohja.

Learning Spaces

Study spaces provide a peaceful environment for uninterrupted work away from household distractions. They are available to Soihtu residents 24/7.

The equipment is maintained by the University of Jyväskylä IT Services. In addition to computers, the space next to the Rentukka lobby features a multifunction device included in the University Printing House’s PrintIt service.

The equipment can be used with University of Jyväskylä credentials.

Bubble

Bubble and its adjoining lounge form a social laundry open to all Village residents. It’s a pleasant place to sit down while doing laundry—read a book, play board games or table football, and maybe get to know your neighbors.

Washing machines and dryers are available daily from 7:45 to 22:00 without reservation. The lounge area is accessible with a key card or village key daily from 7:00 to 23:00.

Workshop

The workshop, available to all Soihtu residents, is ideal for bike maintenance and small wood or metal projects. It includes a workbench, vise, painting stand, bike repair stand, and ski waxing bench.

Band Room

The band room is located in the basement of Rentukka, below Lillukka. It can be booked for recurring time slots for a semester at a time in spring and autumn. Reservations are open to Soihtu residents and JYY members.

Price: €45 per semester for a weekly 3-hour slot.
