Sustainable Village brings students together on May 22 – join us in making everyday life more sustainable!

What would a student community look like where items are reused, bikes stay in good shape, and creativity thrives? Come and experience it at the Sustainable Village event on Thursday, May 22, from 12 to 18 at Rentukka Square.

The event offers a relaxed and inspiring atmosphere where sustainable everyday living becomes tangible through action – and at the same time, you can hang out and spend time with other students.

Recycle, discover, and save

The yard flea market and the Round2 POP UP thrift shop offer a chance to sell or find second-hand treasures at student-friendly prices. It’s a great opportunity to give old items a new life – and make sustainable finds at the same time. At the Round2 POP UP thrift shop, you’ll find t-shirts, sweatshirts, work jackets, caps, and Palokka Beat vinyl records for sale

If you want to participate as a seller at the yard flea market, all you need is a blanket – no advance registration required.

Get your bike ready for summer

At the JYPS bike maintenance point, you can get your bike tuned up for the summer season. Even small adjustments make cycling safer and more enjoyable – while also being a climate-friendly way to get around.

If you want to have your bike serviced, please register in advance via the JYPS website.

Seedling swap and greener living

Do you have extra seedlings, or would you like to grow something new? At the seedling swap, you can bring your own plants and exchange them for others. It’s an easy way to add some greenery to your everyday life.

You are also welcome to pick up seedlings even if you don’t have anything to bring.

Community art and workshops

During the day, you can also take part in community art projects and various workshops. Come create, experiment, and learn something new together – no prior experience needed!

Swap room opening – bring items and delight new students

The event will also feature the opening of a new kind of recycling room, where you can bring good-condition items for incoming students to use.

Dishes, kitchenware, small household items – all useful items are welcome. As a thank you, you’ll receive a themed sticker!

Community art out of old clothes!

Do you have clothes you no longer wear? On Sustainable Village Day, let’s transform old clothes into our Dream Map together!

What you need to do:
👕Bring a piece of your old clothing
✂️Cut, sew, and turn it into your ideas
🧵 Put it on the map!

After the event, our collaborative artwork will be exhibited at Rentukka!. No prior sewing or art experience is needed — everyone is welcome!

Sustainable Village

Sustainable Village is more than just an event – it’s an invitation to build a more sustainable and communal student life together.

See you at Rentukka Square!
