Soihtu Resident Network Renewal – FAQ

This page was active during the transition period when Soihtu switched from the Funet connection to the Lounea network, and it has not been maintained since the transition was completed in February 2025.

JYY (The Student Union of the University of Jyväskylä) and the Finnish fiber optic company Lounea have agreed on building a network connection for the residents of the Kortepohja Student Village, Soihtu Korttelikylä, and Soihtu Vehkakuja.

This change will not incur additional costs for residents, and the speed of the Internet connection will remain at least at the current level.

The connection will also include a cable TV service, which will be introduced at a later stage. The cost of the connection will continue to be included in the apartment’s rent. If desired, you can order additional speed and other extra services at your own expense once you’ve activated the Lounea service.
