Sustainable Village event in Rentukka 14.5.2024
On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, an event focused on circular economy and sustainable living will be organized at Kortepohja Student Village. The event will feature bicycle maintenance, a yard flea market, sustainable urban gardening, workshops, and presentations by different communities. The event is free and open to everyone.

JYPS presentation and bicycle maintenance from 11 am to 4 pm
The Jyväskylä cycling association event tour will arrive at Kortepohja Student Village on Tuesday, May 14. Tenants will have the opportunity to get their bikes ready for summer. Various cycling-related supplies will be available, and there will be a chance to purchase JYPS products and become a member at a discounted rate. If you wish to have your bike serviced, please register separately through the website link. Note! The bike service is fully booked. Learn more on the JYPS website!
Bokashi and Biochar tips from 11 am to 1:30 pm
Representatives from Könkkölä Farm will be presenting bokashi composting and the use of biochar in soil factories. Participants can inquire about sustainable urban gardening tips from experts and learn about Könkkölä Farm’s activities.
Mustankorkea Recycling info from 11 am to 2 pm
Test your own recycling knowledge or ask about recycling at the Mustankorkea info point! Possibility to participate in a lottery. Mustankorkea is a waste management company owned by the residents of Jyväskylä, Laukaa, Muurame and Toivakka.
Yard Flea Market from 11 am to 6 pm (weather permitting)
The Kortepohja Student Village Tenants’ Committee will organize a blanket flea market and exchange point in the courtyard area of the Student Village, where usable items can change owners. Come to sell your unnecessary items or make discoveries!
If you’re going to sell something, bring your own blanket with you.
Hacklab: Activity Presentation from 2 pm to 6 pm
Hacklab Jyväskylä, which maintains a communal workspace in building O of the Student Village, will present its activities at Rentukka from 2 pm to 6 pm.
Hacklab is a place, where anyone has a possibility to learn, build, plan and make those things, that interest most. Hacklab is maintained by its members. Running a hacklab is based on volunteering, sharing and doing things on your own or together.
Open Space: Circular Economy in the Student Village from 4 pm to 6 pm
How is the circular economy implemented in the Student Village? How can we enable the recycling and reuse of usable goods? What to do with abandoned bicycles in the Village? Soihtu will organize the workshop in Rentukka Club Room (1st floor) and all tenants who are interested in the subject are more than welcome to join!
