Questions about furniture?
We know summer has arrived when there are a lot of housing applications arriving every day! We congratulate everyone who got a place to study in Jyväskylä.
Soihtu has three housing locations: Kortepohja Student Village, Soihtu Korttelikylä and Soihtu Vehkakuja.
Most of our apartments are unfurnished. Soihtu has furnished apartments in Kortepohja Student Village, but during the academic year, we reserve them for the exchange students of The University of Jyväskylä and JAMK University of Applied Sciences. Most of our furnished rooms are in shared apartments.
JYU and JAMK have reserved a limited number of rooms / apartments for their exchange students. Soihtu can only guarantee a furnished student apartment for those exchange students, whose accommodation has been agreed with JYU or JAMK.
This summer, we have got many questions of whether we have furniture available for rent (for our unfurnished apartments). Unfortunately, we don’t offer furniture leasing.
Some options for finding budget furniture in Jyväskylä:
- Second hand shops (Visit Jyväskylä has a good list on their webpage)
- Facebook groups of the Kortepohja and Jyväskylä area (Sometimes you can find stuff for free or by trading with someone)
- For Sale (Myytävänä or Myydään) ads on notice boards in your building and the nearby shops.
At the moment, we do our best to process all apartment applications. We are sending apartment offers every day.
If you have not applied for an apartment yet, check out our applying info before sending the application.
