Rent increase 1% in March 2022 – changes also in usage fees

Verifying the budget of the Kortepohja Student Village and Soihtu Vehkakuja for the year 2022, the representatives of the Student Union of the University of Jyväskylä and the board of Soihtu business unit have agreed on the rent charged in Student Village and Soihtu Vehkakuja from March 1st, 2022. The raise will be on average 1,0 % / month.

The raises have become necessary because of the increase of interest and loan management costs and the general increase of maintenance costs. Increase do not apply to 2-rooms apartments in Soihtu Vehkakuja. The current market situation has been taken into account when estimating the rent of Soihtu Vehkakuja and therefore the rent increase only applies to studios in Soihtu Vehkakuja.

Tenants will receive a rent increase by email. The new rent of your room/apartment is stated in the rent increase letter. Please notice that the rent increase will come into effect in March 2022. In December, January and February, you will pay rent as previously. Remember to use the reference number when paying the rent. The reference number will not change after the rent increase.

Changes in usage fees

There have been differences in sauna fees and parking fees between Student Village and Soihtu Vehkakuja. Fees will be the same in March 2022.

Sauna and parking fees starting from March 2022 in Student Village and Soihtu Vehkakuja:

Sauna fee 8 € / month
Place without heating 8 € / month
Place with heating 10 € / month
Place with shelter, no heating 12 € / month
Place with heating and shelter 20 € / month

In practice, sauna fee will increases to 8 € from 5 € in the Student Village in March, but parking costs wil not increase. In Soihtu Vehkakuja, parking costs will increase in March: place with heating will be 10 € / month (now 8 €) and place with heating and shelter 20 € / month (now 12 €). There will be no change in sauna fee of Soihtu Vehkakuja.
